INSTRUCTOR, INTERIOR SYSTEMS MECHANIC (LATHER) (TERM FULL-TIME)

POSITION TYPE: Full-Time, Term Position Available (anticipated August 25, 2025 up to March 31, 2026)

SALARY: $63,375 - $96,946 per annum*

  • The successful candidate with a Masters or PhD in a related field will receive an Educational Supplement of $2,850 or $5,700 per annum, respectively, pro-rated on an hourly basis.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid inter-provincial Red Seal certification—Interior Systems Mechanic
  • Significant trade experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to teach on campus and remotely
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience developing curriculum and instructing at a post-secondary level
  • Certificate in Teaching for Learning or Adult Education
  • Experience developing and instructing distance-delivered courses including online
  • Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver blended (synchronous and asynchronous) instruction
Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chair, Mechanical Trades, Red River College Polytechnic is looking for an Instructor for the Interior Systems Mechanic (Lather) apprenticeship program (Levels 1-4). Responsibilities include classroom instruction, supervision and guidance of students, student evaluation, advising of students, maintenance of student records and other professional duties related to instruction. Examples of subject areas are trade safety, power and hand tools, blueprint reading and specifications, interior wall and ceiling framing, exterior sheathing, acoustic and suspended ceiling installation, insulation and sound barriers, drywall applications, taping and finishing, air and vapour membranes, non-suspended ceilings, floor framing, plus others. The incumbent is also required to participate in department and College committees and assist in student orientation and graduation activities.
