This job is a full time (12-Month), benefited, FLSA exempt position in the Nursing Sciences Division that reports to the Dean of Nursing Sciences.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience not to exceed the budgeted amount of $74,880 per year.
Schedule - 40-hours per week, on campus, at the Alpharetta-North Fulton campus; Monday through Friday; May occasionally work at the Lawrenceville Campus

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (JOB CODE 10708)

Doctorate or Master’s degree in discipline OR pursuing Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in discipline completed. Current RN licensure in Georgia. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all regulatory agencies and appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the minimum qualifications, Experience in teaching college-level nursing courses in two-year colleges or degree-granting technical colleges; two years experience teaching college-level nursing courses or two years experience as a pediatric registered nurse is required. Experience in critical care nursing and simulation a plus. Experience in course and curriculum development, demonstrated flexibility with diverse student population and learning styles; demonstrated experience with a variety of teaching strategies including the use of advanced instructional technologies. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the community. Ability to teach in the classroom and in multiple clinical settings, pediatric specialization required, BLS/PALS certification a plus. Proficient in written and oral communication. Demonstrated occupational competency. Must be computer literate with the ability to use common software programs. Some experience with online instruction a plus.
Candidates for this position are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited Nursing courses, Pediatric specialty required, at a Gwinnett Technical College. Develops program and syllabi, goals and objectives. Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests. Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area. Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues. Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts.

MAINTAINS PROGRAM CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS, AS APPROPRIATE. (PERFORMED BY ALL INCUMBENTS.)

  • Attends required number of hours of required training.
  • Participates in education meetings, workshops, etc. as requested.
  • Ensures certification meets all required organizational and accreditation policies and guidelines.
  • Thoroughly conducts a self-study of the program’s compliance with technical college, program and accreditation standards.
  • Exhibits and models positive work ethics.

MAINTAINS KNOWLEDGE OF CURRENT TRENDS AND DEVELOPMENTS IN THE FIELD BY ATTENDING STAFF DEVELOPMENT TRAINING, WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS AND CONFERENCES AND BY READING PROFESSIONAL LITERATURE IN THE RELATED VOCATIONAL FIELD. (PERFORMED BY ALL INCUMBENTS)

  • Attends internal and external educational programs and professional meetings that meet the requirements for continuing education in the assigned specialty area.
