Master’s degree preferred (could be in process) or Bachelor’s degree with extensive experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Years of design industry experience and/or graduate degree will be commensurate with the rank sought. All candidates must have proven success in teaching appropriate for their stage of career.

  • Instructor candidates should preferably have a master’s degree at time of application, or be engaged in a master’s degree program of study by the start of work. Instructor candidates should have at least 2 years of teaching experience and industry experience in a creative field.
  • Assistant professor candidates must have a doctoral degree at time of application, or official notification of completion of the degree by the start of work. Assistant professor candidates should have at least 3 years of teaching experience and industry experience in a creative field.
  • The ability to teach Design studio and seminar courses at the undergraduate level including, but not limited to, current knowledge on Design Thinking, multiple design techniques and practices, the innovation ecosystem, and willingness to stay up to date on technology tools and trends.
  • Technical proficiency and fluency with Adobe Creative Cloud and other design software applications relevant to area of expertise.
  • Demonstrated experience at creating process-driven, research-based, human-centered design solutions for a range of design challenges at a level appropriate for undergrad studio teaching.
  • Commitment to a deeply student-centered approach to teaching and learning, and ability to flexibly differentiate instruction to amplify student career interests and passions.
  • The ability to work effectively within a diverse community, and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment.
Responsibilities

Within this context, this position is responsible for delivering vigorous studio and seminar instruction at the undergraduate level in the domains of Innovation, Design, and the Arts. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the Instructor or Assistant Professor will advise students on academic and career choices. The position is expected to provide experience and expertise in Innovation, Design, and the Arts with demonstrated industry experience in one or more creative design fields and abilities to integrate novel technology into the design process.This position is expected to participate in curriculum development and review, award jurying, program event planning, quality audits, advising, faculty meeting attendance, and serving on capstone committees.
