Job Title: Instructor
Reports to: General Manager/Music Director
At School of Rock, we teach five main disciplines/instruments: keyboard, voice, guitar, bass, and drums.
We offer individual lessons and rehearsal groups.
The Instructor at School of Rock teaches students from “ACDC to Zappa”, creating a safe and
relaxed/friendly environment for them to reach their full musical potential. They ensure that each student at
School of Rock has a fulfilling and personal musical journey. The instructor will be expected to follow a
specific School of Rock syllabus (or something like this!?). In support of this goal, the Instructor is
responsible for all music and educational elements within the classes.

Academic Responsibilities:

  • Deliver maximum quality of music instruction, including private lessons, ensembles, and shows.
  • Ensure that students learn to play as well as the fundamentals of music.
  • Create and document productive lesson plans.

Customer Relationship Responsibilities:

  • Regularly communicate with parents about students’ progress after lessons.
  • Interact with parents and students regularly, being visible and accessible at the school.
  • Assist in rehearsals and help on basic maintenance of the school gear and equipment.
  • Adhere to the SOR Code of Conduct, safety policies, including the Monitoring and Supervision

Policy.

Requirements:

  • More than 4 years of experience teaching and/or performing music professionally.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Resourceful and a good problem solver under pressure.
  • Working musician with formal music school training and knowledge in music theory.
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive behaviour.
  • Good judgement is essential.
  • Passion for teaching.
  • Availability for a minimum of 3 days a week.
  • Ideally, a multi-instrumentalist.
  • Ideally, an active performing musician.
