INSTRUCTOR, TEACHING FOR LEARNING IN APPLIED EDUCATION (TFL)

POSITION TYPE: Full-Time Position Available

SALARY: $63,375 - $96,946 per annum*

  • The successful candidate with a Masters or PhD in a related field will receive an Educational Supplement of $2,850 or $5,700 per annum, respectively, pro-rated on an hourly basis.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certificate in Teaching for Learning in Applied Education (TFL) or Adult Education (CAE); or Bachelor of Education; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Several years’ experience teaching and working in adult education
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to teach on campus and remotely
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings
  • Experience facilitating online programming with video conferencing, educational technologies, and Learning Management Systems (LMS) to deliver synchronous and asynchronous instruction
  • Strong background in current educational theory related to student-centered, active, and applied methodologies and assessment strategies
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience developing curriculum and instructing at a post-secondary level
  • Certificate in Teaching for Learning or Adult Education
  • Experience developing and instructing distance-delivered online courses
  • Experience integrating Indigenous perspectives into curriculum and instruction
  • Master of Education degree
  • Experience developing and/or delivering education or adult education courses at a post-secondary level
Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chair, Adult Education and Teaching Excellence, Red River College Polytechnic is looking for an Instructor for Teaching for Learning in Applied Education (TFL). The incumbent will teach the following courses: Teaching for Learning 1, Teaching for Learning 2, Teaching for Learning 3, Effective Learning Environments, Assessment for Learning and Teaching, Course Planning. Responsibilities include online classroom instruction, supervision and guidance of students, formative and summative student evaluation, advising of students, maintenance of student records and other professional duties related to instruction. As a TFL instructor, you will facilitate practical instructional education courses, provide meaningful feedback informed by extensive teaching experience, and ensure an active and engaging learning environment.
This position will be required to work evenings and to work remotely in a virtual classroom.
