Description

The Control and Instrument Technician supports the engineering design and development of electrical control and automation systems and devices. This role involves hands-on setup, configuration, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical control systems and prototypes, as well as assisting in system and device testing.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Typically requires 2-4 years of hands-on experience in electrical control systems, automation, or related technical work
  • Proven ability to work independently or as a team member within established guidelines and procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in electrical and control systems.
  • Familiarity with common diagnostic tools and testing instruments.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron), VFDs, sensors, relays, and industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Modbus)
  • Experience with robotics systems, motion control, SCADA systems, safety systems, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and/or building management systems (BMS) is preferred
  • Willingness to work flexible hours or on-call as needed
Responsibilities
  • Support engineering teams in the design and development of electrical control systems and automation devices.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and repair prototypes and production systems.
  • Assist in the testing of electrical systems, devices, and instruments using established procedures.
  • Measure and record system performance results; maintain clear and accurate documentation of testing processes.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies necessary for testing and maintenance tasks.
  • Follow safety and quality standards to ensure reliable and compliant systems.
  • Collaborate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and cross-functional teams to support project objectives.
