Peter Mac has a small, specialised Instrument Technician team who perform tasks including scope processing, decontamination and surgical set-ups.  Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is home to 8 Operating Theatres, including Endoscopy. The Department covers a variety of specialities including Plastics/Breast, General surgery, Gynaecology/Brachy, Urology, Robotic, Head and Neck, Colorectal, Vascular & Upper GI.   Position Overview  We’re seeking enthusiastic and skilled Instrument Technicians (Grade 3 or 4) to join our Operating Theatre (CSSD). In this role, you'll contribute to safe patient care by ensuring that reusable surgical instruments, endoscopes, and medical consumables are reprocessed to the highest standards in line with AS/NZS 5369.  Remuneration as per Health and Allied Services, Managers and Administrative Workers (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021-2025. Instrument Technician Grade 3 (IN3) and/or Instrument Technician Grade 4 (IN4). Appointment to 3 or 4 will be dependent on experience. Key Responsibilities  Decontamination & Processing  Perform manual and automated cleaning of surgical instruments and reusable medical devices.  Operate Soluscope AERs and Soluscope drying cabinets for high-level disinfection of endoscopes.  Follow validated sterilisation practices and comply with infection control guidelines.   You will also liaise between Peter Mac and the RMH CSSD  Instrument Assembly & Packing  Assemble and inspect surgical instrument trays with accuracy and attention to detail.  Ensure tray contents match detailed count sheets and configure sets for use in theatres and procedural rooms.  Package, wrap, and label instruments correctly for sterilisation (Low Temp).    Theatre/Procedure Room Support  Assist with theatre set-ups, delivering and configuring instrument sets/consumables to meet scheduled surgical requirements.  Respond efficiently to urgent case requests and ensure timely turnaround of critical items.  Deboxing & Consumable Management  Receive and debox surgical consumables, ensuring they meet sterility, expiry, and compliance requirements.  Manage and store consumables safely in appropriate CSSD or theatre storage areas.  Endoscopy Reprocessing  Perform manual cleaning, leak testing, and transport of endoscopes for reprocessing.  Execute full reprocessing cycles including cleaning, disinfection, drying, and storage using Soluscope systems.  Quality Control & Documentation  Maintain accurate records via Censitrac or equivalent tracking systems.  Complete sterilisation batch documentation, including BI results, wash validations, and cycle parameters.  Assist in audits, stocktakes, and quality assurance activities.  Teamwork & Professional Development  Collaborate with theatre nurses, theatre technicians, and other CSSD staff.  Participate in ongoing education, in-services, and professional competency development.  Promote safe practice, continuous improvement, and patient-first outcomes.  About You (Essential Requirements)  Certificate III or IV in Sterilisation Services (or working towards).  Minimum 2 years' CSSD experience;
