Description
We are seeking an Instrument Technician to join our Central Sterile Supply Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for the decontamination, sterilisation, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment, ensuring the highest standards of infection control and patient safety.   Key Responsibilities   Decontamination and Processing Practice Standard Precautions and wear appropriate PPE when handling contaminated instruments Receive, sort, and disassemble complex specialty instrumentation including robotic instruments, powered tools, and flexible endoscopes Operate automated endoscope reprocessors, washer-disinfectors, and ultrasonic equipment Conduct quality inspections ensuring instrument cleanliness, completeness, and functionality   Sterilisation and Packaging Sort, assemble, and pack specialty instrumentation according to established protocols Load packages for sterilisation and document all indicators and parameters Verify sterilisation processes and store instrument sets according to FIFO standards   Distribution and Inventory Management Issue instruments accurately to clinical areas Monitor stock levels and initiate fast-track processes for urgent requirements Validate instrument set completeness and integrity prior to issuing   Quality Assurance and Maintenance Perform quality checks including ATP tests, Bowie Dick tests, and Biological Indicator tests Conduct routine equipment maintenance and dryness tests Monitor Critical Water System and document all quality assurance activities   Communication and Supervision Communicate with team members, operating theatres, and other departments Handle telephone enquiries and provide appropriate advice Supervise and train junior staff including Instrument Technician Associates   Requirements Diploma in Engineering or GCE "N" level/ NITEC equivalent with Sterilization Services Training course by Alice Lee IAN/ CSSD Course by Infection Control Association Singapore/ Equivalent with 4 years relevant experience in sterile processing or central supply operations Knowledge of infection control principles and sterilisation techniques Good command of written English Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic IT proficiency
Responsibilities
