THE POSITION
We are seeking an experienced Instrumental Music Specialist – Oboe to join our highly experienced and dynamic Music department for commencement at the start of Term 4 2025. This opportunity is to cover a period of parental leave and will be available until the beginning of Term 2, 2026.
Instrumental Music Specialists (IMS’s) report to the Head of Instrument Department and ultimately to Director of Music and are employed on a casual basis. Rates of pay will be in accordance with VMTA rates. There are currently approximately 8 hours of work available per week. The successful candidate must be an experienced conductor of double reed ensembles. They must also be available on Wednesdays to participate in the Year 5 Band Program.
IMS’s are appointed to assist in the provision of instrumental programs, both within the Music curriculum and as part of the School’s broader Music Program. IMS’s are responsible for overseeing their individual programs and for the progress of the students they tutor. They have the overarching goal of enabling every student to participate in the musical life of the School to the best of her ability.
