About us Tata Steel Minerals Canada Limited (TSMC) with its headquarters at 1000, Sherbrooke W., Suite 1120, Montreal (Quebec), operates iron ore mines in the provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador and Quebec. The opportunity Tata Steel Minerals Canada is currently seeking an experienced Instrumentation Technician to join their highly skilled team to work on a Fly-in/Fly-out basis of 2 weeks On/Off with a standard 12 hours/day schedule, to and from the Menihek region in Labrador, near the town of Schefferville, QC. Operations at our mine site are running 24/7 all year long. The main pick-up points are: St. John’s, Gander, Deer Lake in NL, Halifax, NS, Moncton, NB and Montreal, QC. Reporting to the Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor, the Instrumentation Technician will assist Operations and Maintenance teams by providing technical support in the instrument, control and automation areas.  Major Responsibilities * Ensure Health and Safety as well as environmental regulations are followed methodically * Troubleshoot automation equipment and recommend modifications * Carry out various field engineering projects under direction of an electrical Engineer * Participate in the pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, ramp-up of all new equipment’s/units  * Team up in field work involving testing instruments, VFD’s, PLC’s and Network equipment * Participate in developing corporate standards on process control and safety guidelines Your Profile * Certified Control Systems Technologist and/or Instrumentation Technician Red Seal certification required  * 5-10 years of industrial/maintenance experience and relevant experience in Automation projects  * Extensive knowledge and experience of Process Plant Control, Instrumentation and Automation systems  * Good Knowledge of various field instruments, calibration and testing * Experience with servicing and rebuilding different types of valves (knife gates, globe and ball valves) * Knowledge of Schneider PLC's and the Unity pro software would be considered an asset * Excellent computer skills * Strong communication skills The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the incumbent(s) of this job.
