Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
The Instrumentation Technician (Water Treatment) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and optimization of instrumentation systems in water treatment facilities. This role involves ensuring that water quality parameters such as pH, chlorine levels, turbidity, and flow rates are accurately monitored and controlled. The technician will work with senior engineers to improve system performance, troubleshoot complex instrumentation issues, and support the integration of new technologies. This position requires technical expertise in instrumentation, control systems, and water treatment processes, and offers opportunities to mentor junior technicians.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Strong understanding of water treatment processes and the role of instrumentation in monitoring and controlling water quality (e.g., pH, chlorine, turbidity, flow, pressure).
- Proficiency in the installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of water treatment instrumentation systems (e.g., flow meters, pH meters, chlorine analyzers, pressure transmitters).
- Experience with SCADA, PLCs, and control systems, including their integration with instrumentation systems for process monitoring and control.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues with instrumentation systems.
- Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards in water treatment and industrial instrumentation systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, operators, and other technical teams to address issues and improve system performance.
- Good documentation skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and generate detailed reports on instrumentation performance and compliance.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- ITI/Technical Certificate in Instrumentation & Controls Engineering or Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Certifications in instrumentation systems, process control, or water treatment processes are advantageous.
EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years of experience in instrumentation, process control, or water treatment systems, with a focus on the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of instrumentation systems.
- Experience with SCADA, PLCs, and industrial automation systems in a water treatment or similar industrial setting is highly preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and develop junior technicians.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and meeting operational goals.
- Willingness to work in both field and office environments, including occasional travel for troubleshooting or system upgrades.
- Proactive attitude, with a focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: AED2,000.00 - AED2,500.00 per mont
Responsibilities:
- Installation, Calibration, and Configuration of Instruments:
- Install, calibrate, and configure instrumentation systems, including pH meters, chlorine analyzers, turbidity sensors, flow meters, pressure transmitters, and other devices used for water quality monitoring and treatment control.
- Ensure that all instruments are correctly integrated with SCADA, PLCs, and control systems for seamless data acquisition and control.
- Develop and update calibration procedures to ensure that instrumentation systems meet operational standards and regulatory requirements.
- Routine Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on instrumentation systems to ensure continuous and accurate operation.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex instrumentation problems, identifying faults or failures in sensors, transmitters, controllers, or communication systems.
- Work with senior engineers to develop and implement corrective actions to resolve instrumentation issues and minimize system downtime.
- System Optimization and Performance Monitoring:
- Monitor the performance of instrumentation systems and make adjustments to improve accuracy, reliability, and system efficiency.
- Analyze data from instrumentation systems to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for process optimization.
- Implement improvements in instrumentation setups to optimize water treatment processes and ensure that water quality meets regulatory standards.
- Integration of New Technologies:
- Assist in the integration of new instrumentation technologies, including advanced sensors, IoT-based devices, and automated control systems into existing water treatment infrastructure.
- Work closely with engineers to upgrade existing systems, improve data collection capabilities, and integrate new technologies for process optimization and efficiency improvements.
- Data Management and Reporting:
- Collect and analyze data from water quality monitoring instruments to track system performance and ensure compliance with water quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of calibration, maintenance, and inspection activities, ensuring documentation is up-to-date for both operational use and regulatory compliance.
- Assist in the generation of performance and compliance reports for senior management and regulatory agencies.
