JOB SUMMARY:
The Instrumentation Technician (Water Treatment) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and optimization of instrumentation systems in water treatment facilities. This role involves ensuring that water quality parameters such as pH, chlorine levels, turbidity, and flow rates are accurately monitored and controlled. The technician will work with senior engineers to improve system performance, troubleshoot complex instrumentation issues, and support the integration of new technologies. This position requires technical expertise in instrumentation, control systems, and water treatment processes, and offers opportunities to mentor junior technicians.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Strong understanding of water treatment processes and the role of instrumentation in monitoring and controlling water quality (e.g., pH, chlorine, turbidity, flow, pressure).
- Proficiency in the installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of water treatment instrumentation systems (e.g., flow meters, pH meters, chlorine analyzers, pressure transmitters).
- Experience with SCADA, PLCs, and control systems, including their integration with instrumentation systems for process monitoring and control.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues with instrumentation systems.
- Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards in water treatment and industrial instrumentation systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, operators, and other technical teams to address issues and improve system performance.
- Good documentation skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and generate detailed reports on instrumentation performance and compliance.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- ITI/Technical Certificate in Instrumentation & Controls Engineering or Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Certifications in instrumentation systems, process control, or water treatment processes are advantageous.
EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years of experience in instrumentation, process control, or water treatment systems, with a focus on the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of instrumentation systems.
- Experience with SCADA, PLCs, and industrial automation systems in a water treatment or similar industrial setting is highly preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and develop junior technicians.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and meeting operational goals.
- Willingness to work in both field and office environments, including occasional travel for troubleshooting or system upgrades.
