Insurance and Scheduling Specialist  POSITION: Insurance and Scheduling Specialist (Central Scheduling Team) EMPLOYMENT TERM: Full-Time START DATE: As soon as a qualified candidate is hired WORK HOURS: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:  Medical Office experience including knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, CPT codes and insurance highly preferred.  POSITION DESCRIPTION:  Performs insurance verifications, authorizations, as well as schedules surgeries, clinical appointments, MRIs, CTC, etc. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  * Call insurance companies and/or utilize online resources to verify eligibility and benefits * Complete and document referrals and authorizations * Verify insurance cards for active coverage and that they are entered into EMR system * Make corrections or changes made to patient’s insurance * Schedule appointments for physicians, therapists, and surgery center * Communicate effectively with outside facilities for surgery and test scheduling * Complete implant estimates for doctors/nurses * Have great attention to detail and be able to multi-task effectively * Be open for schedule changes for department coverage * Assist team and other departments with duties as assigned * Able to work independently along with supporting a team as needed SKILLS NEEDED:  * Work well in a team environment. * Have excellent computer and telephone skills. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Have basic knowledge of medical office practices, terminology, and abbreviations. * Have excellent communication/customer service. Must be able to clearly and precisely communicate with doctors, nurses, therapists, co-workers, outside facilities and representatives, and patients. * Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and MEDICARE guidelines.

This role involves performing insurance verifications, obtaining authorizations, and scheduling various medical procedures such as surgeries, clinical appointments, and MRIs.
