JOB SUMMARY

The billing specialist at Professional Eye Associates is responsible for monitoring the complete billing and collections cycle to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. The billing specialist acts as a liaison between patients, Professional Eye Associates, insurance companies, government agencies, and other third-party companies. Duties include the preparation and submission of accurate claims for professional and facility claims, ability to verify insurance eligibility and benefits, review and verify records are coded properly using standard ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS to reduce the risk of denied or delayed claims, follow up on unpaid or denied claims utilizing appeals when necessary, read and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Remittance Advice to post payments and make necessary adjustments to patient accounts. The billing specialist is also responsible for customer service inquires for billing, payment plans, and insurance coverage in a professional manner, collections for delinquent accounts, ensure all billing practices adhere to HIPAA regulations and other industry compliance standards. The billing specialist also works collaboratively with administration to report billing/coding/collection trends and assist with other general office duties as needed including pre-certifications for injections and office procedures.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Completion of a high school diploma. College level courses preferred but not required.
CERTIFICATIONS: OCS, COPC, CPC, or CPB preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2-3 years third-party medical billing or medical collections experience preferred.
JOB SKILLS: Knowledge of medical procedural coding (CPT/ICD10) and reimbursement. Must possess excellent customer service skills; good written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work in a team environment. Working knowledge of medical A/R software programs and PC skills. Close attention to detail, demonstrate competence in basic math concepts.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
