Responsibilities

We are currently looking for a Lawyer to join our high performing General Insurance Litigation team in Melbourne. The position will work closely with experienced and respected Partner and colleagues on a range of interesting and complex litigated public liability, professional indemnity and self-insurance matters.
The successful candidate will ideally have at least 3 years PAE in insurance litigation, but other areas of experience may also be considered. You will be driven to exceed deadlines in order to align with the competitive direction of Thomson Geer and the General Insurance team, and in return you will work alongside a dynamic and collaborative team with experienced and proactive secretarial support.

Requirements: To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Possess experience dealing broadly with litigated Insurance and self-insurance matters;
  • Have exposure to drafting legal documents, advices and negotiations;
  • Demonstrate a client focused approach with superior organisational skills as the work is deadline sensitive;
  • With appropriate mentoring and supervision, have the ability to work relatively autonomously and handle files and matters independently;
  • Have excellent attention to detail, analytical skills which will be backed up by strong academics;
  • Be familiar with statutory legislation and case law; and
  • Possess a genuine interest in insurance law and a desire to further your career in this area.

Litigation experience will be highly regarded.
