Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

As a New Business Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in leading and motivating a team of commercial underwriters. Your focus will be on driving high performance, fostering a culture of development and collaboration, and ensuring exceptional service to our broker partners. You will be highly supportive and engaging leader who can lead indirectly, virtually and via others.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of underwriters to achieve business targets.
  • Foster a positive and high-performing team culture with a strong focus on accountability and results.
  • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews, offering guidance and providing feedback.
  • Drive the team to Secure new business in line with the underwriting appetite and strategy.
  • Monitor and analyse operational delivery and team performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to develop and implement new business strategies.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers to maximise new business opportunities.
  • Support the team in negotiating and securing new business.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and responsiveness to broker enquiries.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to improve underwriting processes and efficiencies.
  • Ensure underwriting decisions comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and risk appetite.
  • Report on team performance and key business metrics to Underwriting Service Manager.
