Agency Profile Self Help, Inc. is a nonprofit Community Action Agency (CAA) created to help families and individuals stabilize and secure their lives through education, strategic assistance, and building opportunities in their communities. We provide a range of services for families and households across Southeastern Massachusetts. Job Summary The Self-Help Intake Certifier plays a crucial role in connecting individuals seeking self-help fuel assistant services with appropriate resources and support. This position is responsible for conducting initial assessments, determining eligibility for the fuel program, providing information and completing necessary documentation with empathy and accuracy. The Intake Certifier serves as a vital first point of contact, establishing a welcoming and supportive environment for individuals navigating self-help fuel program options Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive intake assessments with individuals seeking self-help fuel program services, gathering information about their needs, challenges, and goals Explain the fuel programs services offered by the organization Determines a needs assessment for the household in regard to home energy needs Works to reduce energy burden by providing counseling Provides information on other available resources in the community Assist individuals in completing necessary intake forms and other required documentation accurately and efficiently Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, staff, and external partners Demonstrate empathy, active listening skills, and a non-judgmental approach when interacting with individuals in distress or seeking support Adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain client confidentiality at all times Contribute to a positive and supportive environment for both clients and colleagues Knowledge of self-help principles and community resources is desirable Other Requirements Must pass a criminal background check and other required clearances Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required Schedule Typical Schedule will be Monday-Friday with occasional weekend work-8:00AM-4:00PM Seasonal position with a summer layoff.
