Responsibilities

To support the Shift/Area Leadership in providing visible and effective leadership in the factory to deliver the daily production plan through consistent, joined-up and cost-effective performance, whilst ensuring the highest quality, technical and health & safety standards are maintained. This role is predominantly based in the finished goods area, so effective communication and joined up decision making is key, however as a co-ordinator the role will be required to work in other areas where needed to support / cover others. This role will be required to cover the area leader.

Key Responsibility Safety·

  • Ensuring the safe operation of the area – nothing we do at work is worth getting hurt for.
  • Ensure any pre-start check issues are reported before use of any equipment.
  • Actively promotes the use of the T-Card ticket system to raise any near misses to reduce the likelihood of accidents.
  • Play an active role in supporting the Area Leaders to ensure all risk assessments in your area are accurate and up to date.
  • Ensure that all team members are fully trained to operate safely in their roles

Operations – Performance & Improvements·

  • Responsible for efficient utilisation of labour within own area
  • Be able to recognise all product types that are produced on site; understanding codes, dates and traceability, outer trays types and packaging used
  • Ensuring lines run as per the schedule by making sure colleagues and material are ready on time whilst avoiding overproduction and waste
  • Effective, proactive communication with all supporting departments and diverse levels of management and peers
  • Ensure that all performance data is recorded accurately
  • Understands agreed KPI measures (labour variance, material variance, schedule adherence) within your area – be able to explain any variance and plans to resolve issues
  • Proactively looks at ways to share best practice, solve problems and drive improvements in the factory operation and support Shift Leader and Area Leader to deliver change
  • Know the status of all operations in your area at any time, time communication of any potential schedule adherence issues to the Area Leader. Ensure that the Short Interval Control boards are completed and reviewed at least hourly and any actions escalated to the Area Leader.
  • Ensure that all waste (raw material, packaging, finished product) is accurately recorded, and the reasons understood

Team·

  • Play an active role in planning and/or carrying out training
  • Carry out live coaching and re-training for colleagues where appropriate
  • Take an active role in developing content for training documents (SOPs, procedures, risk assessments)
  • Ensure that team morale and our values are always maintained by setting a good example
  • Support and develop a culture with the team where colleagues feel able to challenge the norm and encourage feedback from all levels
  • Providing the necessary facts and information to the Area Leader and Shift Leader for the handover
  • Understands the business objectives and the plan to deliver them and what it means to your team
  • When required, handle conflicting situations and stay calm and professional. Refer any unclear issues upwards for advice.

Standards·

  • Responsible for standards (safety, GMP, hygiene, quality, behaviour, performance) within your physical areas of responsibility
  • Be audit-ready every day
  • Ensure all technical and legal procedures are followed always Sample checking of paperwork/electronic data capture accuracy and reporting to Area Leader
  • Responsible for reporting hygiene, defect and damage issues to the Shift Leader and/or relevant team
  • Responsible for the quality and safe production of all products in your area

General·

  • Play an active role In gathering the information of trial performance, quality and safety to ensure a throughout review is completed to hand over to the NPD team and other shifts
  • Any other tasks within your scope of capability as required by the business
  • Pending on knowledge, understanding and experience is able to stand in for Area Leader e.g. holidays, courses and absences.
