New England Seafood International (NESI) was established in 1991 and is an importer and processor of premium fresh and frozen sustainable fish and seafood. NESI employs circa 650 people across two sites in the UK and imports a wide range of wild and farmed fish and shellfish from all around the world. We are part of the Sealaska Corporation, an Alaska Native corporation formed in 1971 and which is owned by 22,000 Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian shareholders, who are all bloodline descendants of the first settlers to the Americas.

Job Title: Intake Operative
Reports to: Warehouse Manager
Location: 48 Cox Lane, Chessington, KT9 1TW
Salary: £25,655.85
Shift pattern: Day shift, 4on 4off
Hours: 7am – 7pm
Accountabilities
This position is responsible for efficient and accurate receipt, storage and dispatch of frozen and chilled goods at NESI Chessington. There is a requirement to work in cold environments as low as -60° for short periods of time.
- To supply business operations with all required frozen raw material in a timely manner.
- To support the Supply Chain packaging warehouse team where necessary.
- Take delivery of raw material and supplies:
- Verify and confirm all received products
- Check for damaged or missing items
- Receipt/transfer goods onto stock systems following the technical specification
- Report undelivered, damaged or missing items to procurement team
- Report raw materials out of specification to technical department
- Record time of arrival and time required to unload vehicle
- Record and report any other issues preventing efficient receipt of goods
- Store all raw materials arriving on site in the correct locations
- Ensure that all lifting and manoeuvring of product is carried out in accordance with manual handling procedures. Operating in a safe manner complying with all health, safety and environmental requirements to ensure own and safety of others
- Handle all materials in an appropriate manner
- Keep areas of work clean and tidy to ensure operational efficiency
- Move stock around either by hand, using lifting equipment or a forklift truck. Undertaking forklift truck duties as required, ensuring daily safety checks are conducted thoroughly and company warehouse guidelines observed
- Input data regarding stock and inventory into a computerised system
- Keep accurate and up to date stock records
- Ensure that goods are fully traceable and that correct stock rotation is in place
- Ensure delivery of raw material to factory in accordance with production standards
- Make recommendations to aid efficiency and add value
- Cooperate closely with all departments
- Monitor and maintain GMP standards in the external freezers, report any property damage
- Raise all quality issues to line manager and/or technical department
- Complete accurate and detailed handover and pass to the opposite shift at the end of 4 days shift
- Control all stock movements between outside containers and goods in department, ensure movements are recorded and appropriate Sage transactions are complete
- Perform other Duties as assigned

- Ability to make decisions - guiding yourself with little or no supervision, and depending on yourself to get things done.
- A forklift truck licence is desirable, however training can be given
