Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and empathetic Intake Specialist to join our administrative team at our Farmington Hills office. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for patients, families, and referral sources, playing a key part in ensuring that new admissions are handled promptly, accurately, and compassionately. The ideal candidate has experience in home health or hospice intake, understands the urgency of patient referrals, and can balance professionalism with empathy in every interaction. Competitive hourly pay ($18–$20/hr, negotiable based on experience) Supportive and collaborative team environment Opportunities for professional growth and advancement Meaningful work that directly impacts patients and families A culture built on respect, teamwork, and compassion Responsibilities Receive, review, and process new home health and hospice referrals from hospitals, physicians, and facilities Verify insurance, obtain authorizations, and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate Enter referral information and patient data into EMR systems promptly Communicate with physicians, nurses, and other departments to ensure smooth coordination of care Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times Follow up with referral sources to confirm receipt and admission status Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and partners during the intake process Qualifications Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience in home health or hospice intake, admissions, or healthcare administration Strong understanding of referral workflows, insurance verification, and EMR documentation Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills Compassionate and professional demeanor when interacting with patients and families Proficient in Microsoft Office and healthcare software systems Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Background Screening Safe Hands Home Health Care & Hospice conducts background screenings on all candidates through the Michigan LARA (Licensing and Regulatory Affairs) system upon acceptance of a contingent job offer.
