Summary
The Client is seeking a Connected Car Integration Test Engineer to support the specification, system integration, validation, and testing of connected car technologies. Working within the OEM’s Engineering function, you will play a crucial role in delivering robust and high-quality connectivity systems across future vehicle lines.
The role is hands-on, covering diagnostics, coding, vehicle network communications, and problem-solving using VW Group tools and platforms. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams and group partners internationally, with some travel expected.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about connected car systems, diagnostics, and vehicle integration, with a strong technical background in automotive electrical systems.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong knowledge of automotive car networks (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet).
  • Proficient in diagnostic and coding tools (VW Group Tools: ODIS, IDEX, VKMS, CP Tool, ADB, MQTT, Ethernet).
  • Experience in vehicle log analysis (DLT logs, CAN logs, Ethernet analysis).
  • Hands-on experience in system integration, system testing, and manual testing.
  • Good understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile principles.
  • Familiarity with VW, Audi, Porsche ECUs and vehicle platforms.
  • Solid experience with connected ECU systems and back-end connectivity (desirable).
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and collaborative mindset.
  • Strong communication skills to work cross-functionally across Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Product Management teams.

PRACTICAL AND TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

  • Advanced knowledge of system testing and debugging in automotive environments.
  • Experience in developing testing strategies and managing test environments.
  • Understanding of Bentley’s Product Emergence Process (PEP) is an advantage.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Full UK Driving Licence required (Advance driving assessment will be necessary).
  • German language skills are a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain connected car test properties, including rigs and vehicles.
  • Support test and validation planning for Telematics, Connectivity, Infotainment, and Diagnostic domains.
  • Carry out flashing, coding, debugging, analysis, and problem-solving activities on test benches and vehicles.
  • Plan and manage weekly project activities and provide regular status reporting.
  • Lead system integration and testing efforts to achieve system/component sign-off.
  • Identify and solve complex system testing and integration issues through analysis of logs and data.
  • Develop test approaches and maintain documentation on test environments and specifications.
  • Support suppliers and group partners to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Apply test automation frameworks (Python, Robot Framework, Anna Framework) where possible.
  • Deliver system validation activities aligned with Bentley’s Product Emergence Process (PEP).
