As the Intellectual Property Counsel here at Sporty Group, you will be responsible for managing and protecting our intellectual property assets, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, jurisdictions, and advising on all IP related matters across the organization. This position requires a strong background in Intellectual Property law, particularly within the digital sports, gaming, media or other tech-driven sectors.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors or Masters degree in Law with minimum 5 years PQE as an IP lawyer
Qualified to practice law in the UK or a European jurisdiction
Native fluency in both written and spoken English is essential
Demonstrated experience in managing global IP portfolios and handling IP litigation
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical judgment
Passion for sports and/or gaming

Responsibilities:

Provide expert legal advice on all IP related matters, including licensing agreements, IP litigation, and dispute resolution
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements related to IP, such as licensing, development, and distribution agreements
Develop and implement comprehensive intellectual property strategies that align with the company’s business objectives
Advise on the creation, acquisition, use, and enforcement of IP assets, including trademarks and patents as well as conduct IP audits and assess the value of existing IP assets
Manage the company’s global IP portfolio, ensuring the protection and enforcement of IP rights
Ensure compliance with local and international IP laws and regulations
Identify and mitigate risks related to IP infringement, including monitoring for potential IP violations and taking appropriate enforcement actions
Collaborate closely with the product development, marketing, and IT teams to safeguard the company’s innovations and creative content
Manage IP related litigation, including working with external counsel as necessaryHandle IP disputes, including negotiation and settlement of claims
