Description
The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is seeking an Intergovernmental Affairs Specialist or Intergovernmental Affairs Senior Specialist. The position will build and maintain relationships with government stakeholders across the federal, state and local levels to promote CMAP’s policy priorities in the areas of transportation, climate, and regional economic competitiveness. The ideal candidate will possess strong working knowledge of state and federal legislative, executive, and regulatory processes and excellent verbal and written communications skills.  The Specialist or Senior Specialist will collaborate with stakeholders across all levels of government to advance the objectives of CMAP’s long-range plan (ON TO 2050), advocacy agenda, and other policy and research products. Key activities include:  * Support the development and implementation of the agency’s advocacy agenda.  * Monitor relevant legislative and regulatory activity and policy initiatives and identify opportunities for education and collaboration.  * Work across divisions to support external promotion of policy and research materials and provide timely responses to external inquiries.   * Maintain strong working relationships with legislative offices, agency staff, and other key stakeholders. * Support briefings, events, and other convenings of governmental and legislative stakeholders. Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's degree with coursework in urban policy, public administration, political science, planning, economics, statistics, or a related field; master's degree preferred,  Minimum Requirements for Specialist: Minimum of 2 years directly applicable experience in the field.  Minimum Requirements for Senior Specialist: Minimum of 5 years directly applicable experience in the field.  Hiring Range for Specialist: $69,769.35- $85, 467.39 Hiring Range for Senior Specialist: $77,087.78-$98,286.78
