POSITION SUMMARY & OVERVIEW
The Interim Assistant Dean of Students (ADOS) is responsible for promoting and sustaining a safe and supportive school culture that enables students to reach high academic expectations and develop strong character. The Assistant Dean is responsible for fostering a highly respectful school culture and for providing staff with the needed tools and support to consistently implement positive behavior interventions and support (PBIS). The Assistant Dean is also responsible for implementing our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Curriculums in grades 6-12, processing behavioral incidents, tracking and managing data related to student behavior, and communicating effectively with students, staff, and families.

Outstanding written and oral communication skills
Fluency in Spanish a plus

In collaboration with the Dean of Students, the Assistant Dean of Students will ensure the effective implementation of Salem Academy’s Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
working with staff, students, and families to promote a safe and supportive school culture
working with the Executive Director, Managing Director of Safe and Supportive Culture, Principals, and Dean of Students to provide staff training on policies and procedures regarding behavior and culture
actively monitor student behavior in common areas throughout the day
ensuring that Positive Behavior Supports are implemented effectively
communicating with families and staff regarding behavior incidents
oversees the day-day-day logistics of the internal and external mentorship programs
supervising restorative circles, reflection rooms, and detention when necessary
administering behavior plans and other supports as needed
reporting all incidents of bullying and harassment as stated in the Bullying Prevention and Intervention Plan
