Summary:
The Interim Assistant Vice President for Equity and Title IX, reporting to the Vice President of Inclusive Excellence, is a critical role that will provide strategic direction and assist in oversight and implementation of the University policies:
Discrimination and Non-Title IX Sexual Misconduct Policy
and the
Title IX Sexual Harassment Policy
.
While compliance is an essential responsibility of the position, the Interim Assistant Vice President of Equity and Title IX Coordinator is an instrumental leader and collaborator to a safe, fair, respectful, and responsive campus culture. It is essential that the Interim Assistant Vice President build and maintain positive rapport with students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
This position will be responsible for the following: (1) leading campus efforts regarding current and emerging regulatory obligations and develop plans of action for remaining in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations and other governing agencies’ requirements (2) creating and implementing a compliance plan in collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure compliance with policy standards and (3) maintaining a comprehensive evaluation of services, practices and procedures to align with the needs of the campus community and integrity of civil rights and Title IX services. In addition, the position will be responsible for overseeing investigations, developing educational programs, and serving as a point of contact for inquiries related to these matters.

Essential Functions:

  • Interim and Supportive Measures: Provide interim and supportive measures to affected individuals, including housing support, academic support, and connections to resources.
  • Complaint Resolution: Oversee the handling of formal and informal complaints related to discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct, ensuring prompt and equitable resolution.
  • Policy Implementation: Implement and maintain the university’s Discrimination and Non-Title IX Sexual Misconduct Policy and the Title IX Sexual Harassment Policy.
  • Education and Training: Oversee the development and delivery of education and training programs to promote awareness and understanding of related policies.
  • Outreach and Engagement: Engage with the university community to foster a culture of respect and inclusivity.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze data related to discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct to identify trends and inform prevention and response efforts.
  • Legal Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with various stakeholders across the university, including faculty, staff, and students.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Director for Equity and Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
  • Equity & Title IX Case Manager & Hearing Administrator.
  • Equity & Title IX Administrative Coordinator.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Full-time.
  • 35 hours/wk.

Salary Range:

  • $180,000 - $200,000/yr.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in higher education administration, law, social justice, public policy, or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 8 years of progressive leadership experience in Title IX, civil rights, or related areas.
  • In-depth knowledge of Title IX, Title VI, Clery Act, VAWA, and other civil rights laws.
  • Experience conducting investigations and implementing equitable practices in higher education.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • JD or Ph.D. preferred.
