As we prepare to transition to full independence from the Royal Melbourne Hospital in July 2025, we’re seeking a bold and visionary Interim Director of People and Communication to help lead this once-in-a-generation transformation on a short term contract, designed to support a critical phase in the establishment of a new service.

As we transition to full independence from the Royal Melbourne Hospital by July 2025, we’re seeking a bold and visionary Interim Director of People and Communications to lead our transformation program and set strong foundations for the future.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the CEO and working as part of the Executive team, the Interim Director of People and Communications will lead a time-limited, high-impact transformation. You’ll drive the development of the workforce, embed inclusive and engaging organisational culture, and establish PYMHWS’s internal and external communications function.

This is a unique opportunity to:

  • Guide the operational setup of HR and communications functions.
  • Build a bold and youth-engaged brand and internal identity.
  • Partner with stakeholders across health, government, and the community to co-design a better mental health system for young people.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead workforce transformation and drive organisational culture initiatives.
  • Oversee talent acquisition, onboarding, and capability building.
  • Develop internal and external communications strategies that connect, inspire and inform.
  • Support the development of a strategic plan and organisational values framework.
  • Deliver change communications that support staff, stakeholders and the broader community.
