INTERIM HEAD OF FINANCE / FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

Location: Active Pathways & Evermore Care Homes Central Office (Chorley)
Contract: Contract (3 to 6 month basis), Part-Time (22-30 hours per week)
Hours: 9:00am – 5:30pm / 37.5 hours per week
Salary: c£70,000 pro-rata (based on experience)
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Interim Head of Finance / Financial Controller to lead and develop our small internal finance team at Active Pathways. This part-time, interim role (3-4 days per week for 3 to 6 months) will see you reporting directly to the Managing Director and joining our senior leadership team at an exciting time of growth and development.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As Interim Head of Finance, you will have overall responsibility for the finance function, providing leadership to the Assistant Accountant and Finance Assistant. You will ensure robust financial stewardship, operational efficiency, and compliance across our diverse portfolio of luxury care homes and mental health services.
Your expertise will guide the production of management accounts, audit coordination, cash forecasting, and financial reporting to senior stakeholders. You will also drive process improvements, digital transformation initiatives, and support the organisation’s financial strategy as we recruit for a permanent Finance Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead preparation and review of management accounts across multiple profit and loss centres
  • Oversee audit processes and ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital efficiently
  • Ensure effective management of Accounts Receivable and Payable
  • Provide financial insight and reporting to the Managing Director and Board
  • Lead continuous improvement of finance systems, processes, and controls
  • Line manage and mentor the Assistant Accountant and Finance Assistant, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture
  • Act as an ambassador for Active Pathways and Evermore Care Vision and Values
