POSITION DESCRIPTION

Human Resource Generalist for Ashford Hall – Irving, TX
The primary purpose of your job position is to direct the human resources department in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as directed by the Administrator and Chief Operations Officer, to assure that quality personnel are interviewed, trained and employed.

SKILLS

  • Proven experience as HR Generalist, preferably in a skilled nursing/nursing home setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of human resource policies, procedures and best practices
  • In-depth understanding and knowledge of employment law
  • Great knowledge of legal regulations and best practices in healthcare
  • Willingness to keep abreast of changing standards in human resource and healthcare administration
  • Excellent ability to guide, assist, train and develop personnel
  • Great communication and people skills
  • Outstanding organizational and stress management skills
  • Aptitude in problem-solving
  • Degree in human resource administration/management is a plus
  • PHR / SPHR or other HR-related certification is a plus

EDUCATION

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high-school diploma.
  • Should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in human resource management, or similar related degree from an accredited college/university.

EXPERIENCE

  • Must have, as a minimum, three (3) years’ experience as a fully-functioning HR Generalist.
  • Should have, as a minimum, six (6) years’ experience in the Human Resource-related field in any industry.
  • Should have knowledge of HRIS - Human Resource Information System systems, such as SmartLinx specifically preferred, or ADP or similar systems.
  • Must have in depth knowledge and skills of Microsoft Office suite, and general office machines and equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Direct, organize, oversee and implement the Hiring and Orientation process for all departments.
  • Assist in staffing management processes with all departments
  • Assist Department Managers in counseling, evaluating, and conducting employee management activities.
  • Ensure that the HRIS system (SmartLinx) is up-to-date at all times. Assist in training department managers and others in its use and function.
  • Train and assist Department Managers in handling key HR-related incidents, such as FMLA, Hiring/Firing, Progressive Discipline, Harassment Prevention, etc.
  • Assist in developing and enforcing policies aiming for legal compliance and high quality standards
  • Resolve employee-related issues, complaints, etc.
  • Interpret policies and procedures to personnel, managers, visitors, residents, etc. as necessary or required.
  • Monitor and manage all unemployment claims and conduct appeals when needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments and professionals to streamline operations
  • Report all incidents and issues to Administrator and COO.
  • Assist with and/or lead special projects when called upon.
  • All other duties as assigned.
