An opportunity has opened up at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust (SFT) for an experienced BSE-accredited Echocardiographer to join our team as Interim Lead Echocardiographer to cover maternity leave. This role would be ideal for a physiologist looking to take the next step in their career or who is already established at this level but would like a new challenge.
The role involves acting as clinical lead to the echocardiography service, delivering a vision for training, quality assurance and clinical excellence, as well as monitoring delivery of activity in line with targets and aspects of service development. The role also involves acting as deputy to the Head of Cardiac Investigations Unit (CIU), including taking on aspects of people management.
CIU has recently relocated to a larger, refurbished department which has afforded us with new clinic rooms (including 2 dedicated echo & 2 multifunction echo rooms), admin spaces and staff areas. We also operate out of 2 dedicated echo rooms at the Community Diagnostic Centre in the city centre.
We have a portfolio of Philips modalities including EPIQs, an Affiniti and a Compact 5500.

The post holder will be responsible for leading the Echocardiography Service within the Cardiac Investigation Unit through the following functions:
Taking overall responsibility for the delivery of the various functions that comprise the echo service
Providing the highly specialist clinical technical services required for the echo service
Interpreting highly specialist echo diagnostic tests along with providing specialist advice to clinicians
Holding responsibility for echo services policies and echo service development
Planning specialist echo service and associated works loads
Supporting the provision of all development and specialist training of echo staff and designated medics to achieve BSE standards
Setting and maintain practices and a working environment that encourages staff morale and motivation within the area of echocardiography and in cardiac physiology in general
Holding responsibility for the research and development aspects associated with the echo service
Participating in national and local professional meetings and promulgating feedback, knowledge and/or issues to echo service staff
Liaising with Consultant Clinical and Clinical Physiology leads to facilitate existing services and to develop further services within appropriately resourced and agreed levels
Being accountable for the delivery of Echocardiography Services Taking responsibility for the health and safety of all staff, patents and visitors with the Echo department
