INTERIM MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT (12 MONTHS) – HIGHER EDUCATION

Location: Liverpool (Hybrid – 3 days per week on site)
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Interim Management Accountant to join a leading University in Liverpool on a 12-month fixed-term basis. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role focuses on Research and Development finance and involves managing a small but efficient team within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a small finance team, ensuring objectives and deadlines are met.
  • Support the financial management of Research and Enterprise funding, from application through to project closure.
  • Provide accurate and timely management information, including budgeting, forecasting, and KPI reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with University financial regulations and funder requirements.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external funders, supporting audits and regulatory returns.
  • Drive continuous process improvement, maintaining strong financial controls and efficient systems.
