Description
Lead and mentor a global team of (9) Crafted Quality Engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Establish and cascade global craftsmanship targets for body interior components and systems on new vehicle programs, ensuring alignment with brand identity and customer expectations. Apply robust design and process standards, leverage lessons learned from previous programs and implement best practices to achieve superior fit and finish. Drive the integration of essential "ingredients" and craftsmanship enablers at the program's inception to guarantee the successful achievement of vehicle craftsmanship targets throughout development. Coordinate comprehensive benchmarking activities and analyze competitive data to inform decision-making on appearance-related issues and opportunities. Conduct detailed perceived quality reviews within the immersion lab environment, identifying critical areas for improvement. Present findings, issues, and proposed workplans to senior management, advocating for necessary changes and resource allocation. Collaborate extensively with Manufacturing, Design & Release, Integration, Program Management, and Studio Engineering teams to recommend and implement surface and cutline modifications that meet stringent fit and finish standards. Identify emerging issues and opportunities for craftsmanship enhancement through meticulous dimensional analyses, virtual simulations, and physical evaluations of prototypes. Track and report perceived quality status against critical program milestone deliverables, including UPV1, UPV2, and FDJ. Develop strategic work plans and lead cross-functional teams to effectively resolve systemic craftsmanship issues and ensure all program targets are met. Experience with benchmarking and competitive analysis in the automotive industry. Ability to travel globally as required to support program needs and team collaboration. Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) or a relevant technical discipline. 5 years of experience in automotive quality, design, or manufacturing, with a focus on craftsmanship, fit/finish, or perceived quality. 5 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role, managing technical teams. Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration. Proven track record of driving significant improvements in vehicle craftsmanship and perceived quality. Strong understanding of vehicle development processes, from concept to launch. Expertise in dimensional management, GDT (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and statistical analysis. Familiarity with virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) tools for design evaluation. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across diverse global teams and all levels of management.
