Description
About the Position We are looking for an Interior Designer to help us create beautiful, innovative and functional spaces that reflect the culture of Jane Street. Jane Street’s culture is open, collaborative and intellectually curious. We love patterns, puzzles, and creative callouts to math and science concepts in our space, and we’re looking for someone who can work with various teams across our firm to find inspiration and translate these types of concepts throughout our architecture and design. You’ll work closely with our Creative Engagement team but sit full-time on Engineering, giving you the opportunity to shape creative ideas from the earliest stages of a project. A big part of success in this role will be understanding what shapes our culture and how we like to use our spaces. Your daily work will include: Collaborating and project managing other internal teams to identify project goals and requirements and develop sketches, models, and/or renderings to develop design direction Creating timelines, selecting and managing vendors, reviewing proposals and estimates, tracking milestones, confirming materials, coordinating installations and reviewing for errors Wayfinding to ensure that our spaces are intuitive and easy to navigate Managing space planning, layout, and the use of new and existing furniture, furnishings, and décor (based on our inventory and usage rates) Thinking about the nuances of our spaces and how things should be staged, both for our ongoing office environment and for special programmes and recruiting events Tracking what works best in what spaces and for what purposes, along with what does not work and should be avoided in the future Staying at the cutting edge of furniture innovation and updating the team on what’s new in the market and what showrooms and conventions we should be attending Overseeing our furniture punch list and improving the process where possible Producing furniture specification packages for distributors, reviewing procurement from the bids and levelling, and providing budget figures with lead times during the design. Historically these responsibilities were spread out across multiple people at the firm, but as our teams and spaces continue to grow, we need someone dedicated exclusively to these efforts. About You Have 5+ years of experience managing interior design projects in corporate spaces; and experience with commercial interiors, hospitality, and/or retail architecture Have a personal network of trusted external contractors and industry contacts, including fabricators and furniture vendors Highly organised with excellent time management skills Can communicate clearly with colleagues and external partners; comfortable asking for feedback and moving projects in different creative directions Confident working with brand elements, colour and materials and able to communicate a point of view about how they are applied Have a portfolio that demonstrates strong concept development executed to completion Proficient in AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Illustrator, SketchUp, Rhino or similar software Fluent in English If you're a recruiting agency and want to partner with us, please reach out to agency-partnerships@janestreet.com.
