ABOUT THE EMPLOYER:
We are a small-to-mid-sized Melbourne-based architectural practice seeking a creative and detail-driven experienced Interior Designer to join our collaborative team. In this role, you’ll work across a diverse range of residential and commercial projects, developing design concepts, preparing documentation, coordinating with clients, suppliers, and contractors, and ensuring seamless integration of interiors with architectural vision.
· Collaborate with clients and other designers to determine the design preferences, needs, and budget.
· Develop interior design concepts and presentations for residential and commercial projects that meet the client’s requirements and expectations.
· Researche and analyse spatial, functional, economic, ergonomic, comfort, safety, sustainability, inclusivity and aesthetic requirements of interior spaces.
· Create detailed drawings, 3D models, and renderings of interior spaces.
· Assist in space planning, furniture layout, and colour/material selection based on project requirements and client needs.
· Select and source materials, furniture, fixtures, and accessories that align with the design concept and budget.
· Liaise with architects, contractors, vendors and suppliers, attend site visits to assess the space and detailing, participate in meetings to ensure design plans are executed according to specifications, within the budget and time constraints.
· Manage project tasks independently and deliver high-quality work across multiple phases (concept, design development, documentation)
· Maintain design quality and ensure documentation meets regulatory standards, building codes and internal QA procedures.
· Participate in design reviews and contribute to ongoing improvement of design processes and studio standards.
· Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new materials, and emerging technologies.
