Reports to: Director of Accounting

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Intermediate Accountant plays a key role in the accounting team by ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting while maintaining compliance with internal controls and accounting principles. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for full-cycle accounting duties, month-end close processes, and assisting in financial reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-7 years of experience in full-cycle accounting.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in a corporate accounting environment.
- CPA designation (or working toward one), accounting diploma, or equivalent education.
- Experience with ERP accounting systems such as Sage 300, Yardi Voyageur, or similar platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and file government remittances, including GST/HST, payroll taxes, and other regulatory filings.
- Assist with process improvements, internal controls, and financial procedures to enhance efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial information is accurate and up to date.
- Handle ad hoc accounting projects and support senior accounting staff as needed.
