THE OPPORTUNITY

At BC Ferries, we connect communities and shape the coastal experience of British Columbia. We’re committed to innovation, continuous improvement, and delivering exceptional service—both to our customers and our people. If you’re passionate about leveraging technology to drive business results, we invite you to chart your course with us.
We are currently seeking an Intermediate Business Analyst to join our IT Application Services team to support the Asset Maintenance and Supply Chain business operations. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring our business applications continue to meet operational needs and evolve with organizational priorities. You collaborate with stakeholders across departments to analyze business needs, define system requirements, support solution delivery, and ensure overall application effectiveness.

Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Application Services Team Lead, you add value and are energized by key areas of oversight such as:

  • Analyzing business and user needs, document requirements and translate them into effective systems requirement specifications;
  • Defining systems scope and objectives based on business, stakeholder and solution requirements;
  • Supporting application teams in IT through solution design, development, and delivery—on time, on budget, and to specification;
  • Performing quality assurance as well as test plan and test case development and implementation;
  • Designing and delivering user training and documentation to support successful adoption of new solutions;
  • Resolving system integration, compatibility, and performance issues in accordance with BCFS Enterprise Architecture Office standards;
  • Applying accepted Business Analysis methodologies (e.g., BABOK) and best practices throughout the project lifecycle;
  • Providing internal consulting services to IT business customers and staff;
  • Offering guidance and informal training to team members as needed.
