QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • P.Eng. (Professional Engineer) designation in Ontario.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical and instrumentation & controls engineering, preferably in the water/wastewater, industrial, or municipal infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of automation, control system design, and integration.
  • Experience with PLC programming, SCADA systems, and networking protocols.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM, and other electrical design software.
  • Familiarity with VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), MCCs (Motor Control Centers), and industrial power systems.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in construction site inspection, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of industrial cybersecurity and networking for control systems.
  • Previous experience working with municipal water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • PMP certification or interest in project management is an asset.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking an Intermediate Electrical and I&C Engineer with a P.Eng. designation to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of electrical and instrumentation & control systems for industrial and municipal infrastructure projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support the design and commissioning of electrical and automation systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the design, specification, and selection of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for industrial, water/wastewater, and municipal projects.
  • Design power distribution systems, including switchgear, Motor Control Centres (MCC), VFDs, control schematics, transformers, and lighting panels, etc.

· Design of lighting, fire alarm, and security system.

  • Prepare and review process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), control narratives, and loop diagrams.
  • Design PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems for automation and process control.
  • Conduct short-circuit, load flow, and arc flash studies using software such as ETAP or SKM.
  • Develop technical reports, specifications, and procurement documents.
  • Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical and I&C systems.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations, including CSA, NEC, IEEE, and NFPA.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and vendors to ensure successful project execution.
  • Mentor junior engineers and review their work for quality and technical accuracy.
