Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • 3 to 5 years of experience with Cathodic Protection, coatings and corrosion.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical or metallurgical)
  • Must have a Professional Engineer designation and be registered with APEGA and/or EGBC.
  • AMPP CP Level I certification and other AMPP training in cathodic protection, coatings, internal corrosion is preferred.
  • Previous experience with cathodic protection, coatings, internal corrosion, pipeline cleaning and pigging.
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex problems and make sound decisions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-paced, multi-task environment with attention to detail.

Responsibilities
  • Develops scopes of work for cathodic protection close interval surveys, diagnostic testing, and maintenance of rectifiers and CP test leads.
  • Manages the contractor(s) in the field that completes CP survey, cleaning pig, and maintenance work.
  • Develops scopes of work for internal pipe cleaning pig runs.
  • Oversees field deployment of cleaning pig runs and QC of sludge samples.
  • Maintains an inventory of cleaning pigs including arranging cleaning and moving of the pigs.
  • Analyzes cleaning pig effectiveness to ensure proper pig design and use.
  • Perform on-site quality inspection duties, as required, during coating work.
  • Develops procedures, standards, and KEEP training packets surrounding cleaning pigs, coatings, and CP, and completes training of field staff on cleaning pig runs.
  • Support the implementation of corrosion management strategies for Trans Mountain’s assets including assisting in developing and executing maintenance programs aimed at preventing and mitigating internal and external corrosion.
