REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a technical or software maintenance or development environment.
  • Must have a technology diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Must be eligible to register as a Certified Technician or Technologist under the provincial Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta or equivalent in the province of practice.
  • Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Relevant work experience with automatic test equipment systems would be an asset.
  • Experience with any of the following: Basic, HP Basic, ANSI C, C++, Java, LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI or TestStand would be an asset.
  • Experience with military programs and project management is an asset
  • Familiarity with Integrated Logistics Support (e.g. configuration management, obsolescence management, reliability trend analysis, safety analysis etc.) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with military or hardened industrial cable systems would be an asset
  • Familiarity with wire-wrap backplanes would be an asset
  • Advanced knowledge with MS Office, MS Project and MS Visio would be an asset.

Responsibilities

POSITION ROLE TYPE:

We are currently seeking an Engineering Technologist responsible for providing technical support for legacy In-Service Support programs involving mechanical/electro-mechanical equipment and systems; as well as support to future programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide timely technical mechanical, electro-mechanical and system services to programs to fulfil contractual obligations.
  • Perform studies and make recommendations with respect to upgrading software and hardware to resolve testing issues, supportability issues and additional test capabilities.
  • Develop tools, scripts and test equipment.
  • Provide data required to compile program metrics
  • Support customer requested System Engineering and/or technical investigations.
  • Support Obsolescence Management, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and configuration control processes.
  • Assist in the development of bids and proposals.
  • Provide technical interface to vendors, the customer and DND technical end-user.
  • Perform/support product repairs based on skills, training, and capabilities.
  • Develop and/or review various documents including: development specifications; interface control documents; mechanical drawings; electrical drawings; test cases; test reports; manuals; and other reports as deemed necessary.
  • Participate in investigations of technical assignments and analysis of technical problems.
  • Design, systems engineering or repair and overhaul of laser and infrared systems.
  • Support product design, systems integration, troubleshooting of equipment involving electrical/electronics circuits, precision mechanical motion, and electro-mechanical systems
  • Conduct thermal and vibration tests
  • Liaise with the repair lab operations staff to ensure that program operational and contractual requirements are met.
  • Support programs to meet other customer requirements. This will include technical investigations, integration development and program review meetings.
  • Occasional travel domestically and internationally in support of programs.
  • Support other engineering staff with product related technical issues.
