Description

ABOUT US

Fathom Studio is a multidisciplinary firm deeply rooted in Atlantic Canada for the last 29 years. Our office is in the growing Halifax Regional Municipality, where we are privileged to work in a dynamic urban setting and where nature is also right at our doorstep.
We are a team of landscape architects, planners, urban designers, architects, graphic designers, interpretive planners, and engineers. We take pride in our collaborative work environment and our integrated design process. We are inspired by the rugged landscapes of our home and the cultural diversity of the people that live here. We aspire to create meaningful connections to place. We are looking for equally inspired designers to join our growing design family here on the east coast.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a candidate with 3–5 years of professional experience in experiential graphic design (EGD) work in a consulting setting. Candidates must:

  • Be eligible to work in Canada
  • Hold a valid driver’s license, and be capable of driving
  • Be able to work at our office in Downtown Dartmouth (this is not a hybrid or remote working position)
  • Be interested in EGD work and sign design specifically, including wayfinding, interpretation, exhibition, murals, and graphics

Cross-disciplinary skills and training would be an asset, such as interior design, industrial design, architecture, and others. DesCan or RGD members would also be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

The experiential graphic designer will plan and design wayfinding systems to guide the public through complex spaces such as university campuses, municipalities, hospitals, and trails. We also tell stories about public spaces through interpretation, designing interpretive panels, exhibits, and murals. You will be bringing text, graphics, and the built environment together into a visitor experience in the real world.
Working with the director of EGD, you will be responsible for all aspects of project delivery: developing design concepts, conducting research and analysis, producing design reports, facilitating engagement with stakeholders and the public, delivering presentations to clients and stakeholders, producing design packages, coordinating with other consultants, and performing contract administration tasks. You will come with knowledge of real-world materials and dimensions.
Applicants must demonstrate the ability to be self-motivated as part of multidisciplinary creative teams. Some projects will contribute to the work of other disciplines, including planning, landscape architecture, and architecture.
