Description:

GEMTEC is a growing firm with offices throughout Ontario and Atlantic Canada, and we are looking for a motivated and skilled Field Supervisors to join our Team in supporting pavement investigation assignments, primarily in Northern Ontario. You will be joining a dedicated and collaborative team of Engineers and Scientists focused on Pavement Engineering related projects.
We currently have full-time openings for Intermediate Field Supervisors to join our Pavement Services team in the GTA with offices in Barrie, Oshawa and Mississauga. Candidates who reside in Northern Ontario should also apply as GEMTEC can accommodate remote work.
The successful candidate will have experience in general construction activities, materials testing and inspection services.

EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience managing and collaborating with drilling and traffic control subcontractors.
  • Experience with MTO pavement engineering drilling and asphalt coring investigations is an asset.
  • Demonstrating a Health and Safety focus and acting as a role model to other staff;
  • College Level Diploma is considered an asset but not required.
  • Previous experience working in highway construction is considered an asset

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in the following:

  • Completing field investigations within Northern Ontario for extended periods
  • Equipment repair and troubleshooting
  • Safely conduct work both in the office and field; geotechnical drilling investigations may take place in all seasons and weather conditions, requiring the ability to physically operate manual hand-augering and asphalt coring equipment (ability to lift and move approximately 50 pounds without assistance is required – significant manual labour component required).
  • Scheduling of laboratory testing of aggregates and soil
  • Various office, laboratory, and field tasks related to pavement engineering
  • Other duties as required
