QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- B.Sc. or Master’s degree in Geology, Civil Engineering, or Mining Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba or working towards obtaining a designation.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to remote sites.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Arcadis Canada is seeking a skilled and dedicated Geotechnical Engineer to join our Resilience Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geotechnical site investigation and reporting. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting site investigations, analyzing soil and rock samples, performing geotechnical analysis, and produce a report. You will work closely with other engineers and environmental scientists to mitigate potential hazards and environmental impacts. As part of your role, you’ll be responsible for preparing and reviewing project deliverables, as well as overseeing design and construction activities—all aligned with the overall management objectives for each project.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for planning and completing geotechnical site investigations. This may include logging, sampling, and evaluation of soil, bedrock, and groundwater conditions. They will conduct field and laboratory tests on soil and rock samples, install geotechnical instrumentation, monitor, and provide interpretation of data. They will prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports with findings and recommendations, and conduct safety reviews and condition assessments.
The successful candidate will also design and plan excavation methods, assess and address risks related to slope instability and erosion, generate and/or update technical drawings, figures, and models. Conducting visual inspection and field testing of construction activities to ensure compliance with Construction Drawings and Specifications will be an important part of this role, as well as managing project budgets, schedules, and team coordination.
The Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer will collaborate with environmental scientists to ensure sustainable practices, assist in preparation of technical and cost proposals, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
