Description

EVERY INSTITUTION VALUES EXCELLENCE. WHAT MATTERS MOST IS WHY.

Griffith was created to be a different type of university. You’ll find we’re about leading research, academic excellence, and the transformative power of education. But what sets us apart is why those things matter and how you’ll achieve them.
Why? Griffith brings together exceptional minds like yours from across the globe and from all walks of life. Here, we do incredible work, questioning and challenging, always in the pursuit of excellence.
Job Description
The Intermediate Mechanical Engineer position is part of the Engineering Services team and works closely with the Engineering team and members of the Capital Works and Minor Projects (CWMP), Campus Facilities Management and Major Projects and Planning teams to deliver new capital works projects for the University and help solve complex maintenance problems.
Griffith owns and operates over 500,000m2 of facilities over 5 locations with an asset portfolio in excess of $2 billion. This provides opportunities to work on the design and operation of critical and highly complex facilities such as PC2 and PC3 research laboratories, nuclear medicine facilities, data centres, applied science facilities, dental teaching and healthcare clinics, libraries, art galleries, and music performance and teaching spaces. We have an inhouse BMS team to help you consolidate your understanding of the design and operation of mechanical services, and inhouse electrical, hydraulic and fire engineers to enhance your understanding of associated trades and coordination of engineering services. Working alongside our project managers, you can also gain experience in aspects of project management such as programme management, cost management and contract administration.
We also offer mentorship to help you achieve professional recognition of relevant engineering institutes. There are opportunities to collaborate with the academic engineering staff to further your knowledge and provide guidance to the next generation of industry leaders.

Responsibilities
  • Form a key part of the mechanical engineering team within the Engineering Services team.
  • Draft briefs for new build and refurbishment projects and contribute to all stages of the project, including site inspections and commissioning, through to end-of-life.
  • Update and maintain Mechanical Services infrastructure information and support the facilities management team with complex tasks.
  • Deliver engineering projects with an asset replacement and / or energy efficiency focus.
