Grow with us, H2O+U. Your Opportunity Stantec’s Building Mechanical Water Team is seeking a motivated Intermediate Mechanical Engineer in Calgary or Edmonton. In this role, you will design HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for industrial and municipal facilities in US and Canada. Majority of our projects are water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, storm water collection and pumping facilities for which you will design high quality, reliable, and efficient mechanical systems. You will design these systems for some of the most innovative and unique projects in the water industry in the world. In this role, you will work with team members in US and Canada. You will also work with other disciplines including but not limited to electrical engineers, process engineers, structural engineers, architects, and civil engineers in order to provide a well-coordinated design. You will continuously receive new projects with unique design criteria which require critical thinking, creativity, and innovation in design. Your Key Responsibilities: Apply your expertise in leading and supporting studies, various levels of design development, services during construction for small, medium and large municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Develop design documents such as drawings, specifications, design criteria, and technical reports. Review and apply Alberta and International mechanical and plumbing codes and standards. Review and apply NFPA 820 on wastewater treatment facilities Model buildings in load calculation software such as HAP 6.1 and Trace 3D. Design and analyze air and hydronic distribution systems (duct system and piping system) Determine equipment size, and select equipment by using selection software, using manufacturer’s catalogs, and working with vendors. Design sequence of operation for various mechanical systems Design HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems using Revit if needed. Provide engineering services during construction (ESDC) such as submittal review and response to request for information (RFI) Assist and oversee junior staff and CAD team to develop design drawings, reports, specifications. Site visits for local projects which are under construction. Site visits in other parts of Canada and US, approximately 5% of the time.
Responsibilities
