Tetra Tech is adding an Intermediate Municipal Engineer to our Municipal Engineering team based in Calgary, AB.

The successful candidate will have strong design skills, field experience either in construction or in a municipal setting, and demonstrated experience managing a diverse range of municipal projects of varying scope and size for municipalities, developers, and First Nations clients. Tetra Tech is looking for an engineer who is passionate about service and quality, and about developing strong ongoing relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • 5 -15 years of progressive experience in Municipal Engineering and Project Management, preferably in the consulting industry.
  • Experience with client development, working in a team setting to meet timelines, and other skills appropriate to consulting.
  • Registered (or eligible to register) as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Valid Driver’s license and clean drivers abstract.
Responsibilities
  • Under the guidance of Sr. Engineers from various disciplines, perform detailed design for water, wastewater, stormwater, roads and various other municipal projects.
  • Perform field inspections, and be familiar with construction principles and practices, including safe work practices
  • Proficiency with modelling software and experience with water and wastewater modelling and utility master planning is an asset.
  • Specific experience with stormwater management planning, design, and construction.
  • Planning, analysis, and detailed design of urban hydraulic systems
  • Proficiency in AutoCad and Civil 3D, ArcGIS and other design/drafting software is considered an asset
  • Contract and tender preparation and administration, field inspection and monitoring
  • Project Management on municipal projects including the design and construction phases, on projects such as water and wastewater rehabilitation projects, road design and construction, and flood protection.
  • Project Management, and Client Relationships, in accordance with our Quality Management System.
  • Assistance with and preparation of proposals, reports, preliminary and detailed designs, cost estimates, specifications, contract documents, tendering, and contract administration.
  • Collaborating on projects with other professionals, including Geotechnical Engineers, Environmental Scientists, Planners, and Landscape Architects.
  • Planning projects, developing accurate scopes of work, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, regulatory and utility agencies, and contractors.
  • Providing technical mentorship to staff.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.
