INTERMEDIATE NETWORK ANALYST

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree/college diploma in Computer Science or Networking (or acceptable equivalent experience).
  • Minimum five (5) years in a direct network support role, working in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco IOS and network monitoring/troubleshooting tools, such as IP SLA, Cacti, Microsoft Network Monitor, LogAnalyzer or others. Experience with network security testing tools is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Azure and cloud networking infrastructure is a requirement.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows O/S, with Linux and MacOS knowledge an asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding of network technologies and protocols, including (but not limited to) TCP/IP, SNMP, DNS, SIP, VLans, QoS, VPN, network security, network access control, wireless, firewalls, routing and switching.
  • Experience with protocols such as OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, STP is an asset.
  • Flexibility to work on an on-call basis, evenings and weekends as required.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner, working collaboratively, but also able to work independently, and make sound decisions based on experience and technical knowledge.
  • Ability to multi-task within a deadline-oriented environment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Due to the nature of the job, this position requires the candidate to be available to work a flexible, irregular schedule and weekends.

Reporting to the Voice/Data Network Manager, below are some key accountabilities:

  • Network monitoring: Continuously monitor network health, performance and security (fibre, LAN/WAN, wireless), identifying and addressing issues.
  • Incident response: Diagnose hardware and software problems and replace defective components. Provide Tier 1/Tier 2 support for data network troubleshooting and projects.
  • System integration: Monitor and maintain networking service switches and applications such as DNS and DHCP, troubleshooting and maintaining in collaboration with the helpdesk and business analysts.
  • System Implementation: Hands-on implementation, upgrading, support, troubleshooting and DRP for network software and hardware, including firewalls and VPN.
  • Firewall management: Configure and manage complex firewall rules and policies.
  • Planning: Research and assist in the planning, coordination and implementation of network security measures, network upgrades and maintenance.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain network diagrams, security, policy and procedure documentation.
  • Collaboration: Consult with and assist other departments in the operation of their networking devices and use of the network infrastructure and network security. Work and collaborate with partners and third-party vendors, particularly regarding secure networking between on-premise and cloud.
  • Continuous improvement: Stay abreast of new advances in networking technologies to update skills and knowledge.
  • Compliance: Work to ensure network systems comply with security best practices, making recommendations as required, including the expanded security perimeter of cloud services and home access
