Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY:
As an Intermediate Project Control Specialist , you will play a crucial role in supporting the execution of project activities, including cost and schedule management, project management, and monthly reporting. As a valued member of our WSP team, you will have the opportunity to apply your education and experience to a cutting-edge Remediation project.
In this role, you will be challenged to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and deliver high-quality results. You will gain valuable knowledge through mentorship and skills development, fast-tracking your professional growth to become a strong project control analyst with the potential to earn a PMP designation.
This opportunity is to join the WSP team responsible for the execution and construction of the Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI) . The PHAI represents the federal government’s response to the community-requested solution for the cleanup and local, long-term, safe management of historic low-level radioactive waste in the municipalities of Port Hope and Clarington.
Please note we will consider candidates based in various locations throughout Canada, but this opportunity is based on-site at the project site in Port Hope, Ontario

Responsibilities:
- You will work with multi-disciplinary teams of Project Managers, Engineers, Planners, Designers, Contract Administrators, Sub-Consultants, and other staff as required.
- You will implement and execute project controls plans to support contractual requirements on a portfolio of small to medium-sized projects.
- You will support the development of cost estimates, Work Breakdown Structures, Cost Breakdown Structures, and Baseline Schedules.
- You will update and maintain the cost management system to manage hours and expenditure.
- You will update and maintain project current schedules.
- You will assess and convey an understanding of project performance through Schedule Performance Indices and Cost Performance Indices.
- You will assess impacts for changes to baseline/estimates and new forecasted dates/performance.
- You will identify, notify, resolve, and record deviations from the current plan in a timely manner, including items that have potential for future impact within project scope.
- You will convey an understanding of project evolution and serve as a preventative mechanism for unforeseen cost and schedule impacts.
- You will implement and execute methods of effective progress measurement based on the size and complexity of the project.
- You will manage the financial health of the project, including variance reporting for both schedule and cost.
- You will attend meetings as required, prepare and distribute agenda items, take meeting minutes, and track minutes for follow-up items.
- You will assist in preparing progress reporting for the PM and client.
- You will organize billing drafts, compile monthly invoices, and follow up for approval and payment, managing sub-consultant receivables.
