Description:

INTERMEDIATE/SENIOR BIOLOGIST

Avison Management Services Ltd. is a well-established and growing Environmental and Forestry Consulting Company with operations across British Columbia. We are currently seeking an Intermediate or Senior Registered Professional Biologist (R.P.Bio.) to join our team. This position will include both field and office-based work focused in Fisheries, Aquatic Ecology, and Environmental Management.
The ideal candidate will have:

Qualifications:

  • The candidate must be a Professional Biologist in good standing with the B.C. College of Applied Biologists.
  • Intermediate candidates must have a minimum 3-5 years experience as an RPBio in the field(s) of fisheries and aquatic ecology, fish and fish habitat inventory. Senior candidates must have a minimum 5 years experience as an RPBio in these field(s).
  • Strong report writing and verbal communication skills, including client relationship skills.
  • The flexibility to work within other disciplines as needed.
  • Previous experience in stream restoration is a desired asset.
  • Previous experience in baseline data collection and reporting in association with the EA process is a desired asset.
  • Previous experience in collecting water quality, and hydrometric data is an asset.
  • Education and previous experience in wildlife biology and survey techniques is also an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as field lead for various fisheries related projects including fish and fish habitat inventory.
  • Act as field lead for various stream restoration projects.
  • In conjunction with the project manager, plan and carry out stream restoration projects
  • Understand federal and provincial fish, wildlife, water quality and environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare permit applications and communicating with regulators.
  • Act as a QEP on various projects.
  • Participate or lead in wildlife surveys
  • Expand project opportunities through successful funding application, and develop client relationships.
  • Fieldwork may occasionally require remote camp work during the field season.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
