JOB DESCRIPTION
Our Civil/Structural group (CS) is seeking an Intermediate/Senior Structural Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be a team oriented and driven individual who will focus on ensuring that our client’s needs are met. This position requires coordination with engineering, design, and drafting teams within a multi-discipline project environment to solve challenging problems and produce the solid, dependable designs our clients expect. Excellent communications, problem solving, and organizational skills are considered an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform structural analysis and design for industrial facilities, including foundations, steel structures, concrete structures, and retrofitting existing structures.
· Conduct site investigations and field assessments to evaluate existing conditions and develop engineering solutions for brownfield projects.
· Prepare calculations, reports, and technical specifications in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
· Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and process engineers, to ensure seamless project execution.
· Review and coordinate drawings with drafting teams to ensure accuracy and constructability.
· Assist in project management tasks, including scheduling, budgeting, and client communication.
· Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to team members.
· Conduct QA/QC checks on project packages.
· Participate in continuous improvement activities, standards development, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree, or greater, in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
· Minimum of 5 years experience in industrial consulting or design environment.
· Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with APEGNB.
· Be a motivated self-starter with ability to work under minimal supervision and the ability to lead other team members.
· Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, RISA-3D, SAFI or equivalent) and AutoCAD.
· Strong understanding of applicable codes and standards (e.g., CSA, AISC, ACI).
· Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
· Experience in heavy industrial sectors (e.g., mining, oil & gas, manufacturing) is a strong asset.
· A valid driver’s license is required for travel to our client’s sites.
