King Heights Academy is seeking dynamic and dedicated Intermediate/Senior Teachers to join our passionate and innovative teaching team. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the Ontario Curriculum, a commitment to high educational standards, and the ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
As an Intermediate/Senior Teacher, you will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging, student-centered lessons, fostering academic growth, and supporting students’ emotional and social development. You will also be expected to contribute to the school community, work collaboratively with colleagues, and engage with families to ensure each student’s success.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent teaching certification.
  • Experience teaching in intermediate or senior grades (Grade 7-12) preferred.
  • A deep understanding of the Ontario Curriculum and experience in planning and delivering curriculum-based instruction.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage students, parents, and colleagues effectively.
  • Ability to integrate technology into teaching practices and utilize digital learning tools.
  • Passionate about fostering a love for learning and empowering students to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Design and Instruction:
  • Develop and implement engaging, effective lesson plans in alignment with the Ontario Curriculum for intermediate and senior grades.
  • Utilize various instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Incorporate technology and other resources into lessons to enhance student learning.
  • Assess student progress regularly through formal and informal methods, providing constructive feedback to support student development.
  • Classroom Management:
  • Create and maintain a positive, safe, and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Promote student engagement and motivation through creative and varied instructional methods.
  • Implement strategies for classroom organization and behavior management to ensure a focused and respectful classroom setting.
  • Student Development:
  • Identify and respond to students’ individual academic, social, and emotional needs.
  • Support students in their personal growth and development, fostering confidence, independence, and critical thinking skills.
  • Provide personalized support and enrichment for students who may need additional assistance or challenges.
  • Collaboration and Professional Development:
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan and execute cross-curricular initiatives and school-wide projects.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to continually improve teaching skills and knowledge of current educational practices.
  • Attend and contribute to staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school events.
  • Parent and Community Engagement:
  • Maintain regular communication with parents about student progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
  • Be proactive in addressing any concerns or challenges that arise in the classroom, engaging families in the process.
  • Participate in school community activities and events to build relationships with parents, students, and other staff members.
  • Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including attendance, assessments, and progress reports.
  • Complete required reports and documentation in a timely manner, adhering to school policies and deadlines.
