POSITION PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Senior, Program Management - Practicum, the incumbent co-ordinates Formation à l’enseignement program administrative activities and processes on the Ottawa, Toronto and Windsor campuses, as well as the part-time programme en mode alternatif.

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Helps develop, implement and update policies, protocols, procedures, documents, management tools (databases, online forms, etc.) and online content related to practicums, and suggests changes to improve placement processes and ensure alignment of field training with the Formation à l’enseignement vision for its programs (Ottawa, Toronto and Windsor campuses, and the part-time program).
  • Establishes, promotes and maintains partnerships with school boards and schools, to facilitate recruitment of associate teachers.
  • Manages all stages of the practicum process, including process and document preparation, matching, communication with partners, police record checks, practicum evaluation reports, final grades, protocols for student teachers in difficulty, compensation of associate teachers, requests for deferred practicums, practicum absences, budgetary forecasts and workplace insurance, in accordance with Faculty practices and program, school board and Ontario College of Teachers requirements.
  • Works closely with external campus co-ordinators to ensure harmonized practices, serving as a resource person.
  • Works closely with the academic secretariat for undergraduate studies, particularly with regard to police record checks and practicum final grades.
  • Uses and updates the placement database in an effective, optimal manner. Develops, as needed, IT applications to optimize communication among stakeholders and facilitate practicum placement. Works closely with the Teacher Education program practicum office co-ordinator to suggest improvements to such applications and to the practicum placement process.
  • Serves as a resource person for directors, students, professors, supervisors, school boards and schools for everything related to the academic and administrative aspects of practicums, to offer a high-quality learning experience and ensure student retention and success.
