QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University Degree in Structural Engineering or related discipline is preferred
  • Seven (7) years of related engineering experience is considered an asset
  • Registered or eligible to register with the PEO as a P.ENG
  • Preferably has previous exposure to stations, structures, and components of Nuclear Power Plants.
  • Must have strong computer-oriented skills (familiarity with Autocad, MathCad, MS Office, Numerical Methods Solutions…etc.)
  • Experience within the utility or power industry is considered an asset
  • Hands on expertise in structural design for concrete and steel structures and use of STAAD Pro Software for Structural Analysis
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance

Responsibilities:

YOUR ROLE:

We are currently seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer for our Pickering, ON offices. The successful candidate will ne responsible for performing various engineering assignments which require a general familiarity with a broad field of engineering. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Intermediate Structural Engineer will primarily focus on design for brown field as well as green field modifications for existing and/or new structures and components. Must be able to solve problems by use of combinations of standard and modified standard procedures, or methods developed in previous assignments. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Multitasking and the ability to perform design for large or small projects is an asset.
  • The candidate will be capable of committing to and maintaining a project timeline and completing tasks within allocated time frames.
  • The ability to document and track project tasks and related design documents is required (strong organizational skills).
  • Liaise with other discipline leads, project managers, vendors, contractors and clients to facilitate smooth flow of information for use in preparing preliminary and detailed design and provide design clarifications and solutions during construction.
  • Must have strong computer-oriented skills (familiarity with Autocad, MathCad, MS Office, Numerical Methods Solutions…etc.)
  • Proficiency in STAAD Pro Software for Structural Analysis.
  • Strong hand-on expertise in the design of heavy industrial structures (steel, concrete, wood, masonry), preferably in the power generation industry, and Consulting Engineering experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of power plant Station Structures and Components (SSCs) is an asset.
  • Preparation and/or verification of procurement activities and deliverables.
  • Review technical content of supplier/vendor bids and technical submissions.
  • Perform any required inspections as necessary for procurement of material.
  • Strong communication skills are required
